Hi! My name's Alister. This is my website.
It started off as an experiment in 1996, and never really stopped.
Well, ADSL has been a lot of fun, and I've spent more of my free time surfing than I've spent doing anything productive. Although I do have another ultra-cool Top Secret project going. But you'll have to wait ages before I spill the beans on that.
The pictures section will be going down. It gets the least hits yet takes up more space than the whole of the rest of the website.
A while back I said I ws working on a version of Palette Suite for Linux. This project was lost when I screwed up my Linux partition (I accidentally used it as swap space. Oh, the humiliation...). This happened a long time ago, so it's about time I started working on it again. Expect to see a GTK+ version of it later this year.
I recently bought Half-Life Generation. It's a pack containing four Half-Life games. Half-Life is, in my opinion, the best game I've bought in 3 years. And that's a long time to wait. So I'm very happy now.
I'm back to updating this site. I'm currently adding to the pictures section. You should soon be able to view pictures from my new mini digital camera (webcam with memory).
We have contacted P&T asking for ADSL. They are currently spending a few weeks checking if it is available in our area. It was supposed to be my Christmas present. If and when we get it we will also get a home network. That means I should be able to burn CDs with my own computer, access a decent printer, avoid installing programs twice, etc.
Once I have ADSL I will spend alot of time surfing. Once I've cooled off a bit, I'll use the opportunity tpo make sure this site works perfectly. I do minimum checks with the phone bills we currently have to pay.
P&T's most expensive package is 1024kbps-up/128kbps-down, so you can imagine that our package will not match the speeds you get in other countries. Still, while multimedia streaming may not be quite so great, there will be the fact that it is A Permanent Connection.
In other news, err... something happened... and err.. someone noticed...
The spoof has become a series starring Saul Carbonaro as the Doctor and Alister Thomson as Dude McDudeson. Episode 1 is almost finished, episode 2 is half-finished, and the script for episode 3 is only just being written. Featuring corny jokes, ventilation shafts, crude jokes, aliens in unconvincing costumes, pointless jokes, and special effects that will have you wanting to sue us, this series will be the greatest thing ever to hit room F111-1's television. P.S. We do now have a wig, but it isn't quite what we were planning...
This year's film will be a Dr Who spoof, which I will be making with he who is responsible for walrus online. The script is pretty much finished, the new PC for digital non-linear editing has arrived, the console is just as complete as it was before, and we have not been able to obtain a wig.
This site is still as useful as it was before! (In other words, not very.)
The summer holidays are over and I'm back at school.
This year's film will probably be a DW spoof.
Go to the "Palette Suite" page to get a program I made that edits palettes.
