The Watford Gap

In the middle of August I moved to Watford, and have spent most of the intervening time without access to the internet. This has made me realise just how much I depend on it. For example, I would not normally go to a new supermarket without first finding out exactly how to get there, and what time they closed. It has been a liberating experience.
A lot has happened since my last update. I've been a teller at a polling station (in one of the safest constituencies in the country). I've run 8.1 miles (13 km) in 77 minutes. I've added rudimentary support for Jazz Jackrabbit 2 levels to OpenJazz. I've had a mole removed from the end of my nose (which is not the best place to have a scar). And finally, I've found myself some gainful employment. I now work for Imagination Technologies (LSE: IMG) - hence the move to Watford.

With the Liberal Democrats still in second place, this promises to be a fairly historic election - so I'm glad to say my polling card finally arrived today. Can't wait 'til the 6th of May.
However, I'd like to look a bit beyond that, to the 23rd. That's when I'll be running an 8-mile section of the Edinburgh Marathon. Three friends and I are hoping to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Please give what you can here.
Of course, if you prefer your running to be more virtual, there's another option. You can now run through the bonus levels of OpenJazz, as promised.

Two weeks in, and the general election campaign has taken a turn for the weird - perennial third party the Liberal Democrats are now polling in second place (apart from two polls where they're actually in first)!
Of course, that's not the only weird thing going on at the moment. There's also a gigantic cloud of volcanic ash hovering over northern Europe.
These things are happening, right? I'm not losing my grip on reality, right? Right?

I've now been living in London for two months. So, what's new?
I've made a film for the EMPS 24-hour film competition, which you can see on the new films page. Not long afterwards I went up to Edinburgh for this year's Golden Video Awards. No prize this year, but I did get to present the award for best soundtrack.
I have yet to find anyone who'll employ me, so OpenJazz has been receiving an unusual amount of attention of late. Expect bonus levels in the not-too-distant future!
Doctor Who got going again on Saturday. As has been established, I have a certain amount of affection for the show. I'm glad to say I do rather like the relaunch, despite (and perhaps, because of) it being a bit more of a kid's show now.
As for today, I've applied for a provisional driving licence. This involved relinquishing my passport. The general election has just been announced, so I hope I'll have it back come polling day. That said, I live in the 22nd safest Labour seat, so I doubt my vote will be missed.
